30 Years. 3 Generations. A Great China

30 years of Shenzhen Special Administration Regions. 30 years of Shenzhen real estate.  30 years of Great China Group. There is no doubt that, in the past 30 years, it has been a new era of creating the miracle. Shenzhen had transformed from a small fishing village to an internationalized city, cooperating with Hong Kong. Shenzhen real estate had transformed from being a testing stage to become an example for other Chinese real estate. And the Great China’s 30 years footprint spread from Shenzhen to the entire country. This involved real estate, finance, business, hotels, energy, ports and other industries. However, today, we are going to understand the relationship between Shenzhen real estate and the Great China  Group in the past 30 years at another angle.

In the Great China Group, there is a family with surname called Zhong. All their generations contributed to Great China for 15 years. All the staffs in the company labeled them as “Old Zhong,””Little Zhong,” and “Tiny Zhong.” In a microscopic perspective, they are not longer the ancestor or Great China’s 30 years of journey; they are also witnessed of Shenzhen 30 years of real estate history.

 30  years. 3 generations. A Great China  -- This means the flourish of the past and also displays a blueprint of the future.

There generation are working in Great China. They worked in here for more than 15 years. This is a rare incident. What elements does Great China have that is attracting all of you?

Tiny Zhong: What does Great China make me feel? We start working with Great China from my Grandfather’s generation. My boss is my best friend.

Small Zhong: Great China is a big firm that is relatively popular in Shenzhen. It set foot in Shenzhen real estate for a very long time already. I learned about how engineering creates management. This is my interest. I can play my strength and hobbies in Great China.

Old Zhong: My boss is always good to me. I was always working on the preparation stage of engineering. After a while, I fall in love in doing it.

From nothing to having, from an infancy stage to being powerful, your  have witnessed the journey of Great China. So, where do your think the intrinsic value of Great China is?

Tiny Zhong: Great China pursued high-quality real estate. It is their intrinsic value. We are not interested in low-quality work. We are looking for the best project. This is the attitude how a real estate company should have.

Small Zhong: From 1993 until today, I have been working in Great China. From the earliest Pearl Garden, to the Sun and the Sea, the Modern City, Sceneway Garden, Exposition Pavilion, to the present Oriental Xintiandi, I have worked on almost every single project in Shenzhen. I have also witnessed how Great China went from a small company to being a big company. Step by step, Great China had its footstep until today. This is a tough quality what makes Great China survive in this sensational city of Shenzhen!

Old Zhong: I entered the same company year as my son. I was in the company when it had its first project. It is not easy for the company. My boss is persistent and had a high spirit. It is not easy to create a powerful company.

Since all of you are working in the engineering department, based on your professional view, what is your understanding of Great China’s construction? And how do your implement it?

Tiny Zhong: When I joined this company at the beginning, I almost participated in every project in the company, ranging from the first modern city to Shanwei to the Oriental Xintiandi. Now, I went to projects in other provinces. But wherever the project is, Great China building must ensure its quality is superior. It can be seen from our exchange square that the construction is magnificent from small to interior decoration. This is based on the attitude of excellence. My boss says that the ultimate goal is to have the best project. This is the attitude of our staff work.

Small Zhong: Speaking of the company’s construction quality. It is number one. I do not have many comments about that. Our Exchange Square Hall is pillar-free. It is Asia’s largest pillar-free hall. Everyone knows about it. It spans 42 meters. This evidenced that we are aiming for high quality and taste.

Old Zhong: The quality of the building is excellent. I am speechless. It is the best.

How do your see the future development of Great China company? And what do your anticipate working in Great China in the future?

Tiny Zhong: I am very optimistic about the company’s future. The company continues to improve from the early real estate project to expanding to different areas. Now, all the branch companies are beginning to work. It also has Hong Kong and mainland’s listed companies. So, I am optimistic about the company’s prospect. (when asked about what is his prospect working in the company, Tiny Zhong smiled and said). I will work until I retire. I work for the company’s future.

Small Zhong: All the company projects’ geographical locations are very good. The site has already got a lot of advantages.  At present, the places for Shenzhen to develop had drastically diminished. Our company is ahead of others and expanded the projects to other places. Regarding my career. I have already mentioned that the company needs me. I will not leave the company. I will work here if the company continue to need me.

Old Zhong: I entered this company in 1993. It had been 20 years. Now, I am 75 years old. I can only say that I will work on anything whenever the company needs me! (Old Zhong was working on a project in Inner Mongolia earlier on, he just came back to Shenzhen recently). I will work in the company as long as my health allows.

From an employee’s perspective, how do you see Mr. Huang Shih Tsai? Huang Shih Tsai once said that he would make Great China a century old company. As an employee of the company, how do you view this target?

Tiny Zhong: The boss’s vision is insightful. It is way ahead of the market. He can see the future development trend. He can approach a normal person and use the exchange center as an example.  When constructing this building, no one would have come up with tens of millions to build a helipad that no one would even use. However, after so many years,  and we look back, you will discover that many international seniors use a private jet. So, if we want to have the world’s best office, the helipad is necessary!

Small Zhong: The company can build century-old company. We witness the company develops, grows until today. If we can improve the management and planning stage, then I believe the company will have the much better prospect. It will go further!

Old Zhong: It had been 20 years after I joined the company. The boss is generous. He is so good to staffs. He can see how much staffs had contributed to the company. He would always encourage staffs to do good things, especially to the young people the company trained. He is willing to spend the time to cultivate the leaders of young people, and he is willing to forgive inexperienced staffs who make mistakes. It is our luck to have such a boss! The target of becoming a century-old business is huge. I believe the company will become better and better. If the company continues to expand, then I think the title of becoming a century-old business is going to be a reality.
